I Hear Thy Welcome Voice

I Hear Thy Welcome Voice

A Bit About The Song…

I Hear Thy Welcome Voice

Lewis Hartsough, A Methodist Minister from Ithaca New York pend these beautiful worlds and the words of almost a hundred other hymns during the 1800s.  Little is known about the life of this man other than What popular gospel singer of the day, Ira D Sankey, wrote in his book “ My Life and Sacred Songs”  published in 1906:

“The words and music of this beautiful hymn… proved to be one of the most helpful of the revival hymns,  and was often used as an invitation him in England and America.”

During the amazing formative years of the early Advent Movement in 1800 it is easy to imagine This specific hymn being sung as the truth about Jesus’s soon return and where we are in the time of prophecy was presented to the eager listeners.

The earnestness of the invitation in the words and music tugs on our heartstrings and impress deeply on our minds as we listen to the call even today as we come closer and closer to Jesus’ Second Coming.

While hearts and minds In this fast closing earth’s last final hours are hardened and distracted by the world’s pleasures, there are many who are longing to know that the Lord is still calling, sinner, come home!  There is room at the altar for you, there are grace and mercy freely given at the cross for you. We pray that your heart and mind echo the sentiment of this song, that your innermost being will say “I am coming, Lord! For I hear thy welcome voice”.

“Behold, He cometh with clouds, and every eye shall see Him, and they also which pierced Him: and all kindreds of the earth shall wail because of Him. Even so, Amen.”
Revelation 1:7
